In a bid to further support filmmaking in the Arab world, the UAE Ministry of Interior will extend its collaboration with the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) by partnering with Enjaaz the Dubai Film Market’s post-production support programme. Launched in 2009, Enjaaz aims to widen the choice of Arab films shown to audiences; raise the profile of Arab films across the world; increase opportunities for the sale and distribution of Arab films; and help make the regional film industry more sustainable.
The Ministry of Interior will focus on both fiction and documentary feature films from the UAE and Arab world that highlight and raise awareness of societal issues in a meaningful way through the power of cinema.
Under the partnership agreement, the Ministry of Interior Cinema Award will annually support up to four Arab filmmakers with combined funds of $100,000 for post-production, enabling them to complete their projects.
This investment reinforces The Ministry of Interior’s mandate of raising awareness on safety and social issues which is vital to ensuring the welfare of the community and its commitment to supporting exceptional Arab filmmakers.
